Three Ways To Get The Smile Of Your Dreams

Posted on: 11 March 2015

If you are a teen or adult who suffer from low self-esteem due to your smile, you have probably considered the ways to correct the problem. Many people are afraid to smile due to misaligned teeth or bite issues such as overbites, under bites, and cross bites. If you have ever considered getting the smile you have always dreamed of, there are three options available for you.

Metal Braces

Traditional braces, or metal braces, have been the orthodontic treatment for misaligned teeth and bites for decades. Your orthodontist will place a metal bracket on each tooth and then run a metal wire through each bracket. The bracket on the back teeth will feature a tightening mechanism that will be turned often to force the teeth to move. This method has bee successful in treating a variety of orthodontic conditions, but is the most noticeable treatment option.

Veneers

Veneers are a great way to quickly get the smile you always wanted, but they do not actually fix the orthodontic issues. Veneers are porcelain overlays that are adhered to your existing teeth to cover up imperfections. The bite issues will still exist, but others will never know. There are many drawbacks to this option. The first issue with veneers is that they typically need to be replaced. You can compare veneers to artificial nails, they only can handle so much wear and tear before they begin to break. The second issue that you may have with veneers is that the process is irreversible. Your dentist will need to grind your teeth down in order to adhere the veneers to the existing tooth. Your teeth will no longer have their own enamel once this is done.

Invisible Braces

Invisible braces are becoming more popular with both teens and adults to correct orthodontic issues without the use of metal braces. Unlike traditional braces, you can eat whatever you want while straightening your teeth. The trays fit over your entire tooth  and can easily be removed to eat, brush, and floss. You should wear your invisible braces for at least twenty hours a day to stay on schedule with your treatment. One of the greatest aspects of invisible braces is your ability to smile confidently while straightening your teeth.

Misaligned teeth can leave you feeling insecure about your smile. Don't live with an imperfect smile when there are a number of options available to correct these imperfections. Discuss your treatment options with a dentist (such as one from Sunshine Dentistry) or orthodontist today.
